Premium Casket in Oak

A beautiful example of understatement and elegant design, this is one of our premium caskets. Its features include vintage dovetails, raised-panels on mortised stiles & rails, and intricate compound miters which skillfully exemplify the woodworker's art. We use the highest grades of Red Oak, often considered to be one of the best woods for furniture-making. Some of the Oak used to build our caskets comes from our own award-winning 1200 acre forest which is the second largest private forest in Iowa. The Oak is carefully milled and then handcrafted by our monks and the artisans we employ to assist us.

Notre Dame Oak Casket Package   $2,875.00

In addition to combining superior materials with skilled workmanship, our caskets are the result of a reverent approach to manual labor that sets them apart from those that are mass-produced. Because we believe work is a form of prayer, each casket reflects the same careful attention to detail that we have been using for over a 150 years whenever one of our own brothers dies. Instead of being distracted by unnecessary ornament, the eye is drawn to this casket's natural, organic beauty — the warmth of the wood, the exposed dovetails, and crisp miters.

This casket includes an upholstered interior, mattress, pillow, adjustable bed, ten custom made solid brass handles, pillow, veil, and inside lid panel a diamond pattern with a pearl stitch inside each diamond. The casket receives a subtle but rich fruitwood stain and two-coats of clear lacquer protecting its finish. This casket, which is also available in Black Walnut, comes with a two-piece hinged lid and engraved crosses. A
wooden keepsake cross which fits inside the engraved cross is intended to be removed and kept by the family as a memorial. (A total of five keepsake crosses are provided.) This beautiful casket is an ideal choice for traditional wakes and funerals. Knowing that it was constructed in the prayerful environment of New Melleray Abbey and personally blessed by one of the monks is often a source of comfort and consolation to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one.

It is our mission at Trappist Caskets to build the highest quality casket at an affordable price. Our caskets meet or exceed industry standards for strength and size, and all models will fit into a standard size burial vault. By law, all funeral homes must accept any casket chosen by the family without incurring additional charges, and we have found that most funeral homes are very receptive to Trappist Caskets.

In most cases, your casket can arrive in 1-2 business days, depending on destination. Extra charges may apply to weekend shipping. Please call for exact shipping rates and options.
